Abstract

Electrical resistivity and Vickers hardness were measured in order to clarify the role of oxygen and nitrogen atoms in the stage III recovery of niobium. Defects were introduced mainly by means of cold-rolling. Specimens were prepared from the material A (O + N<50 ppm), B (O + N ≃ 210 ppm) or C (O + N ≃ 850 ppm). All specimens showed recovery in the temperature range 100 to 200° C; an additional recovery stage was observed in the material C and nitrogen-doped B.
