Abstract
Ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) is considered as the foremost common hospital-acquiredrisk associated with patients on a ventilator, and there are numerous avoidance techniques that canbe connected by Intensive care unit (ICU) nurses in arrange to diminish the hazard of frequency of VAP inICU.This paper aimed to evaluate theeffect of the nursing role, applying guidelines and adherence of healthprofessionals to VAP bundle prevention strategies in an attempt to decrease rates of VAP in mechanicallyventilated adult patients. An electronic searching was performed in thedatabases: Google Scholar, ResearchGate and PubMed. The review paper showed that the applying of VAP bundle prevention as daily componentof nursing care among ICU nursesin the ventilated patient can decrease incidence rate of VAP; and can beconsidered as a sensitive indicator that reflects patient outcomes. There are many factors among nurses fornot adhering to these guidelines which may affect on patient’s health outcome. This review paper providesnurses working in ICU with efficient knowledge regarding nurses’ care guidelines to prevent the incidencerate of VAP in ICU.Further study is necessary in order to verify agood understanding and confirm the factorsthat may affect the development and increase incidence rate of VAP.
