Abstract
Abstract Two new Hg(II) 0D coordination supramolecular compounds (CSC) have been constructed from 2-pyridinecarboxylic acid and 2-amino-3- methyl pyridine mixed ligands using conventional methods. The effects of the ligand and counter ion (iodide or thiocyanate) coordination modes of on the structures of the CSCs have been discussed in detail. In order to clarify the effect of experimental conditions on the morphology and size of the obtained products [Hg(2-pyridinecarboxylate)(SCN)2]. 2-amino-3-methyl pyridine (1) and [Hg(2-pyridinecarboxylate)(I)2]. 2-amino-3-methyl pyridine (2) particles, we have systematically investigated the influence of several factor, such as power of ultrasonic irradiation, reaction time, concentration of reactants and temperature conditions with the goal of achieving a controllable synthesis. The final results revealed that the concentration of reactants and time of reaction directly influenced the final size of submicrostructures of these coordination polymers while sonication power and temperature showed an inverse influence. The prepared submicrocrystals of the two coordination polymers were analyzed using by IR spectroscopy, X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM).
