Abstract

Purpose of the study: To identify the establishment of a formal mentorship programme as an effective method for the development of a newly appointed Senior Resuscitation Officer (SRO). Materials and methods: The establishment of a formal mentorship programme between an established SRO (the mentor) and a newly appointed SRO (the protege) between two neighbouring acute NHS Trusts. The key role for the mentor was to develop the protege professionally, clinically and personally in order that a high quality resuscitation service would be developed and established.
