Abstract

Introduction: Plastic surgeons all over the world arechallenged with a dramatically increased public interest anddemand for aesthetic gluteal contouring surgery. The authorsintroduce a comprehensive, easy and versatile method for theassessment of “Gluteal-Related Aesthetic Subunits”. Thismethod works as a tool to treat the variety of differences inpatients' racial body morphology, personal preferences andethnic related demands, thus improving the results of glutealaesthetic surgery.Patients and Methods: This is a comparative study of twogroups of patients.In Group (A) patients, the aesthetic assessment and planningfor liposuction and fat transfer to the buttocks wasperformed according to the criteria suggested by Centeno(i.e., each buttock was considered as a single aesthetic subunitthat has no subdivisions), and liposuction was performedaccording to the traditional method. In Group (B) patients,the aesthetic assessment and planning for liposuction fattransfer to the buttocks was performed according to the criteriasuggested by the authors, and liposuction was performedaccording to the new principles of the high-definition liposuctionmethod.Results: There were significant improvements in theaesthetic results and in the patients' satisfaction as well as alower rate of complications in Group (B) compared to Group(A).Conclusion: The authors of this work believe that thisnew analytical tool is a valuable step forward to help achieveresults that are more satisfying to patients due to its simplicityand versatility to meet the needs of a variety of patients withdifferent racial body characteristics and personal demands.
