Abstract

The author reviews the implications of the Australian Bibliographic Network (ABN) for existing co-operatives such as CLANN and CAVAL His general view is that access to ABN will enhance, rather than diminish the long-term role of such cooperatives, although some rationalisation of autonomy and investment undertaken hitherto will be necessary. The view expressed is a personal one and should not necessarily be read as a statement of National Library policy.
