Abstract

The separation of a laminar boundary layer on a curved surface is well documented. On the other hand, the mechanism of separation of a turbulent boundary layer in an adverse pressure-gradient is far from being understood. The purpose of the present investigation is two-fold. One is to obtain detailed data in the separation region of a turbulent boundary layer along a curved surface and the other is to clarify the relationship between large-scale ordered motions found in the boundary laeyr and the intermittent separation process.
