Abstract
The history of higher medical education in Russia begins in 1764, when the medical faculty of Moscow University began to function, in 1804 - the medical faculty of Kazan University, and in 1798 the St. Petersburg Medical-Surgical Academy was founded. In 1909, the tenth university in the country was opened in Saratov with one faculty - medical.
