Abstract

Intelligence, in this case State Intelligence Agency, is the spearhead of a country's domestic defense sue to several main tasks. They are to provide analysis related to domestic security, carry out investigations related to terror-related indications, conduct security in certain matters, and even arrest someone who is strongly suspected of being linked to a terror network. The criminal act of terrorism is a cross-border crime, in which terrorism develops into a very dangerous, organized, widespread, and systematic network. Terrorist operations are usually conducted by specially trained and organized clandestine elements. Many countries include their intelligence to play an active role in countering terrorism. An intelligence perspective in countering terrorism is needed on a strategic spectrum. The intelligence ability to seek, process, and present information for decision-making is very important in supporting counter terrorism steps. Intelligence information is needed considering that acts of terrorism are compiled and carried out in private using the clandestine method (covert activities). Terrorism groups operate in secret. To read and analyze their movements requires intelligence and counterintelligence abilities. The purpose of this research is to discover how to optimize the role and function of the intelligence agencies in countering terrorism in Indonesia.
