Abstract
The role of the Hearing Officers evolved over time since their creation in 1982.Today, they are the guardians of the rights of defence, and contribute to the objectivity, transparency and efficiency of EU competition proceedings.In the current debate about due process, suggestions have been made to strengthen their role further.
