Abstract
1. The main reaction pathway in the reaction of aliphatic sulfoxides with organomagnesium compounds is the formation of the sulfides R-R′SR″. 2. Addition of RLi, Et2NLi, or dioxans increase, but addition of MgBr2 decrease the yield of R-R′SR″, due to their influence on the position of the Schlenk equilibrium of the Grignard reagent. 3. The main reactive component in the Grignard reagent in its reaction with aliphatic sulfoxides is the fully-substituted organomagnesium compound R2Mg.
