Abstract

In the framework of technology assessment, as policy studies to aid and improve public and private decision making, this paper reviews the application of formal models to each of the ten principal elements in a technology assessment. The paper evaluates accomplishments, applications, strengths, weaknesses in the use of models. It attempts to provide practical advice for those doing, funding or utilizing technology assessments where consideration is given to the application of formal models in that process.
