Abstract

In the last two decades, the influence of equity resources on firms’ early internationalization has received increasing attention and has been investigated by scholars through a variety of theoretical lenses and empirical methods in different contexts. Despite the proliferation of research efforts, the literature is fragmented, and many unanswered questions remain. Therefore, this chapter synthesizes and integrates 48 studies to address the question of how equity resources contribute to the early internationalization of firms. From the synthesis, we develop an integrative framework to improve the cross-pollination of ideas at the intersection of entrepreneurial finance and international entrepreneurship literature.KeywordsInternational entrepreneurshipEarly internationalizationEquity financingReview
