Abstract

The Al-Si-Dy coating is prepared on the γ′-strengthened cobalt-based superalloys by pack cementation method. Cyclic oxidation resistance of the coating at 1050 ℃ is investigated through experimental and computing methods. The cycle oxidation life of the coating is more than 1.5 times that of Al-Si coating. The oxide scale on Al-Si-Dy coating is denser and has stronger adhesion compared to Al-Si coating. Dy doping improves the cyclic oxidation resistance of Al-Si coated sample. The superior cyclic oxidation resistance of the coating is ascribed to enhanced adhesion energy of oxide scale, which is caused by stronger Dy–O bond.
