Abstract

This paper explores the effects of personality on organizational politics. I present a model that conceptualizes how different dimensions of the Big-Five factor model influence different categories of organizational politics? On the basis of the research and theory for organizational politics and personality I argue that extroverts will engage in 'General Political Behavior', and 'Pay and Promotion Policies' organizational politics, while neurotics and agreeables will involve in 'Go Along to Get Ahead' and people high in conscientiousness will go for 'Pay and promotion Policies' political behaviors. After defining and distinguishing among different kinds of organizational politics and personality dimensions, I develop propositions regarding the influence of personal differences on different types of organizational politics.
