Abstract

A conducting polymer, polyaniline (PANI), was used as a probe to analyze the role of cytochrome c cysteine residues in the redox transition of cytochrome c. The sulfhydryl group of the cysteine residues in cytochrome c reduces polyaniline and forms a sulfide bond to the polyaniline backbone as evidenced by electrochemistry and UV-Vis adsorption spectroscopy.
