Abstract

This paper synthesizes the growing research on post-disaster consumption practices in marketing and consumer research literature. It aims to understand how consumption practices contribute to restore individual and community well-being in the aftermath of disasters. Two emerging research areas for further theoretical development on the topic are identified: control restoration and identity reconstruction. Several practical implications for the design of more supportive market-system in dealing with disasters are also discussed.
