Abstract

One of the elementary conditions of democratic society includes, among others, an active and powerful civil society which performs as an intermediary between the state and citizens. Moreover the functioning and effective civil society represents the way to influence the public governance. The aim of the article is to research the scope of mutual relation between civil society and public governance in the particular post communist country - the Slovak republic in which were absolutely different preconditions for establishing the civil society in comparison with others western democracies. Moreover the article examines, with the help of analysis and synthesis methods, the contribution aspect of efficient civil society to the democratization process and good governance.
