Abstract

The influence of citrate ions on the formation and stability of amorphous iron(III) hydroxide sols was studied as a function of the ratio Cit/Fe(III) and the ionic strength. The surprising stability of the sols at very high ionic strength suggests these sols to be thermodynamically stable.
