Abstract

1.1. A series of 454 patients with advanced or recurrent gynecologic malignancy treated with various chemotherapeutic agents has been presented.2.2. In a group of 280 patients with advanced carcinoma of the ovary, an objective regression of the lesion was observed in 50 per cent of the cases treated with chlorambucil. Approximately one half of the patients showing an initial objective regression may have a sustained remission by the administration of a maintenance type of therapy.3.3. In patients with advanced carcinoma of the endometrium, 18 per cent of the patients treated with hydroxyprogesterone caproate had an objective regression of the tumor.4.4. None of the agents used in this study were found to be consistently effective in a significant number of patients with either advanced carcinoma of the cervix or the vulva.5.5. In a group of 28 patients with an established diagnosis of choriocarcinoma who were able to receive an adequate course of Methotrexate therapy 66 per cent have had a remission of the disease for one to 8 years.
