Abstract
Business Aviation — being defined as the branch of general aviation that covers non-scheduled commercial, corporate or owner operated aviation services as an aid to the conduct of the respective business — gains more and more market share in the premium segment of the civil aviation market. What are the implications of this development for the established “scheduled” carriers? Are there any? And if yes — would these rather be opportunities or threats? Are there any business aviation specific benefits for the corporate traveller? Will the emergence of highly cost efficient microjets increase the economic viability of “cab flying” for everybody? Are these developments the first indicators of a fundamental paradigm shift in the civil aviation industry?
