Abstract

A survey is given of data supporting the presence in the three-spined stickleback of a circadian rhythm of photosensitivity and of a circannual rhythm driving seasonal changes in certain features of the circadian rhythm. It is argued that this co-operation between these two endogenous rhythms ensures the correct timing of the breeding season.
