Abstract

The Arts in Health Care: Learning from Experience is composed of 14 papers given at a conference at The Roehampton Institute, London, in September, 1997. The 14 authors discuss issues that relate to the intersection of the arts and health care, both in England and elsewhere, including: the history of art in British hospitals; recent art projects resulting from public art programmes; art in Viennese, Japanese, and Australian hospitals; and the role of the performing arts in health care. Edited by art historians Duncan Haldane and Susan Loppert (also a contributing writer), the book is a valuable resource for anyone interested in the therapeutic aspects of the arts.
