Abstract

The electrochemical study of fluoride ions (F −) and alkylsulfofluorides in anhydrous hydrogen fluoride on nickel anode is presented. Voltamperometric and tensammetric curves show that the two species are oxidizable and are adsorbed on the anode. A mechanism of electrochemical perfluorination is proposed in which the simultaneous adsorption and the oxidation of fluoride ions and alkylsulfofluorides take place.
