Abstract

Around 30% of children with epilepsy will become drug resistant and therefore potential surgical candidates. Little is known about parental decision making for/or against epilepsy surgery. Shared Decision Making (SDM) involves the collaboration of health care professionals and patients through a structured process that considers best evidence and patient values. Our aim is to determine if a shared decision-making process assists the family in knowledge and improves satisfaction when making an epilepsy surgical decision.
