The Role and Functions of Multimodal Logistic Platforms

Abstract

The intervention will develop on the following guidelines: the diverse experiences carried out in Europe in logistic platform planning, constructionand management: limits of the TEN (Trans European Network) approach restricted to the mere connection of transport axes: freight (and related logistics services) as the key element in the assessment of a European transport strategy; the multimodal logistic platform as the base for rational integration of logistics services and transport systems; examples of the contribution given by integrated logistic platforms to the development of intcrmodality: setting up of sen-ices provided for logistics operations and tranports enterprises based on a multimodal logistic platform; which criteria should be adopted to promote a European network of multimodal logistic platforms?.
