Abstract

:Bringing the road movie to television, Route 66 (1960–64), The Fugitive (1963–67), and The Invaders (1967–68) marked the shift, by way of spatial mapping and visual representation, from a recognition of national diversity to the foreclosure of such openness in a gesture of Cold War paranoia.
