Abstract

This study deals with the stylistic evolution of Iranian candlesticks through the prism of a unique jade object now in the collection of the Art Institute of Chicago. By comparing the Chicago jade candlestick with a variety of examples in different media, regions and periods, the study sheds further light on the artistic communication between the Iranian world and China during the Timurid period.
