Abstract

Iraqi Kurdistan, once stable and prosperous, is facing challenges due to tribal politics, conflicts over oil sales and succession disputes within its largest parties. The withdrawal of aging leader Masoud Barzani has intensified the struggle for power between his son and nephew, adding uncertainty to the region’s future. Meanwhile, increased divisions between the major Kurdish parties and Baghdad are further complicating the situation.
