Abstract
Investigating ecological networks can help us to understand how ecosystems respond to environmental changes. The increasing number of ecological network studies has facilitated the emergence of a body of meta-analyses that aims to generalize geographical patterns of ecological interactions. Here we summarize the status, potential shortcomings, and challenges in meta-analyses of ecological networks. We emphasize the importance of this approach and how it can be developed in the future. This ongoing ecological network meta-analytical approach will continue to generate important insights into existing patterns in global ecological networks and enhance our knowledge of future global change impacts on ecosystems.
