Abstract
An international trio of distinguished clinician-scholars have pooled their talents and harnessed their interdisciplinary expertise to produce this book. Their interests span the fields of clinical ophthalmology, internal medicine, ocular pathology, and experimental vascular disease. Their approach to the clinical description and classification of retinal vascular disease emphasizes the relative involvement of the arterial or the capillary venous side of the retinal circulation in a given disease process. The result of their efforts is an abundantly illustrated and contemporaneously definitive treatise on a subject of wide range and evident significance. Organization of the contents proceeds in logical sequence from embryologic development to morphologic (in the human), phylogenic, and physiologic principles. These involve the dynamics of flow of non-Newtonian fluids in a complex biologic system.
