Abstract

Objective To evaluate the effect of the trabeculectomy in advanced primary glaucoma with persistent high intraocular pressure. Methods 34cases (36eyes) of advanced primary glaucoma were performed trabeculectomy under surface aneathesia with the use of mitomycin , after slowly releasing aqueous.Results Postoperative following up 6 ~ 12 months, postoperative visual acuity increased in 27 eyes, no changed in 7eyes,and decreased in 2 eyes. The intraocular pressure were controled below 20.55mmHg. Postoperative conjunctival filtration functions were good ,no limitation or functional filtering bleb was found. Visual field in 20 eyes was expanded postoperative. Conclusions For patients with advanced primary glaucoma, trabeculectomy with using mitomycin can effectively reduce intraocular pressure.
