Abstract
The host range of Peronospora tabacina, isolated in 1979, was investigated by inoculating seedlings of six pepper (Capsicum annuum) and 13 tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum) cultivars three times 14 days apart. Tomato cultivars were not infected whereas pepper cultivars Sweet Banana, Midway and Staddon’s Select were slightly infected after the second and/or third inoculation. Differences in host range of P. tabacina in various countries may be due to differences in genotypes of cultivars tested as well as in races of the pathogen.Key words: Pepper, tomato, tobacco, Peronspora tabacina, challenge innoculation, blue mold
