Abstract

From power saturated and resolution-enhanced ESR powder patterns of irradiated alanine it was possible to discern between the octet of satellite and allowed lines of these patterns. Additionally, differences between ESR spectra of γ-ray irradiated silicone-bound- and unbound-alanine free radicals are also observed when the induced free radicals are subjected to UV-light. These spectral differences and those from power saturated spectra are correlated in such a way that the existence of secondary free radicals and crystal defects may be needed to explain present results.
