Abstract

This article discusses a two-year federally funded on-site service coordination program, the Resident Services Coordinator Program, designed to increase elderly residents' ability to age in place in senior housing. The key component of the program is the placement of a Resident Services Coordinator, a social service professional, on-site in federally assisted senior housing. Evaluation of the program demonstrated the importance of on-site service coordination for both elderly residents and housing management. The implications of the program for shaping housing policy are presented.
