Abstract

Objective To explore whether a standardized training resident doctor fits the task of surgical skill training course. Methods 6 trained resident doctors and 6 senior surgical doctors were randomly selected from our hospital. 120 medical students were randomly divided into two groups. The skills of basic surgery of the students were tested after they receiving training course conducted by resident or senior doctors. Moreover, the students also scored their teachers about the teaching effect. Results There is no difference in the scores of surgical skills between the students in two groups, P>0.05. However, the students spoken highly of their resident doctors while compared with the senior doctors, P<0.001. Moreover, the given scores of resident doctors with graduate degree were significant higher than that with undergraduate degree, P<0.05. Conclusions The trained resident doctors will well fit the teaching task of surgical skill training course and they are welcomed much more than the senior doctors by the medical students.
