Abstract

With the rapid development of Internet, more and more people use electronic mails (email), unsolicited commercial emails, such as junk mails or spam mails, overwhelm peoples' email boxes. To fight against these spam emails, a simple method is refusing to receive emails from those spammers. However, the spammers make use of open-mail-relay hosts to transmit their spam mails to avoid being blocked out or tracked down. In this paper, we present a responding system for the open mail relay problem. When a host starts acting as an open mail relay in the managed network, the system can response quickly to block the traffic from the relay host. We implemented this system for shanghai ocean university, the results show that the system can effectively cope with the open mail relay problem.
