Abstract
This study employs a critical discourse analytic approach in drawing out the thematic formulations of the discourses of internationalization in higher education from issues of a university newsletter from a span of 5 years (2005–2010). Specifically, it examines the representation of the institution with regard to discourses of internationalization through an analysis of the ideational metafunctions manifested in the texts’ headlines. Conducting an analysis of aspects such as transitivity, nominalization/passivization, lexis, and the representation of social actors intends to reveal the salient qualities of the discourse of internationalization embedded in these headlines.
