Abstract

The 0+↔0− β-decay transitions in the mass-16 triad are studied within an extended shellmodel space. The pion-induced two-body chiral charge density strongly affects the partial half-lifes by reducing them by about four times as compared to the impulse-approximation predictions. Such an acceleration of these weak processes is required to produce agreement with the reported data.
