Abstract

In 1967 the Hunter Coin Cabinet acquired the greater part of a hoard of Scottish, English and Irish silver coins (and one Continental sterling) which had been found in February, 19?3, in Bell Street, Renfrew (NS 506?77). The hoard was contained in a green-glazed one-handled jug. A few of the coins may have been dispersed before the discovery was reported. However, 674 coins were submitted to the National Museum of Antiquities, Edinburgh, through the Queen's and Lord Treasurer's Remem brancer, the hoard having been declared Treasure Trove. The finder has received the market value of the coins.
