Abstract

1. 1. Infusion of arginine, lysine or ornithine into the young cockerel inhibited the renal reabsorption of histidine but did not generally affect the renal reabsorption of neutral and anionic amino acids markedly. 2. 2. Infusion of histidine caused some decrease in the efficiency of renal reabsorption of histidine but did not markedly affect the reabsorption of other amino acids. It cannot therefore be concluded that histidine and the cationic amino acids are reabsorbed by a common transport system in the normal kidney. 3. 3. Leucine infusion did not depress the efficiency of renal reabsorption of leucine or of any other amino acid.
