Abstract
Desorption of silicate from the surface of gibbsite was studied under typical Bayer process conditions. Desorption of silicate declined with aging and with increasing temperature. Successive extractions increased the desorption of silicate, although desorption was more pronounced in the first extraction than in subsequent extractions.
