Abstract

Some principles involved in the use of simple removable appliances are discussed. The reasons that removable plates are better suited for use in the upper jaw are explained. The possibilities and limitations of removable appliances are indicated. The component parts are discussed briefly. Some general remarks and a case illustrating several aspects of the use of removable appliances conclude the article.
