Abstract
The bistable amorphous Co- and Fe-based soft magnetic materials are considered in the framework of both their remagnetization process and possible applications. The origin of a bistable state is explained in terms of non-homogeneous nucleation and growth of reversed domains. Switching field fluctuations (one of the reasons for magnetic noise in equipment made from the bistable materials) is explained as a result of thermal fluctuations of the magnetic moments of the reversed domains. Frequency and remagnetization field amplitude dependencies of the mean switching field are considered. The double-frequency Matteucci effect, frequency and remagnetization field amplitude dependencies of the Matteucci emf are described.
