Abstract

Pseudospin “symmetry” was observed in non-relativistic shell model orbits thirty years ago, but the origins of this symmetry as a relativistic symmetry is just being recognized. We review the evidence for pseudospin symmetry in both the energy spectra and the single-nucleon relativistic wavefunctions.
