Abstract
Objective To investigate the relationship between myocardial coxsackie adenovirus receptor (CAR) expression and myocardial lesions caused by persistent viral infection.Methods Myocardial specimens of patient's with dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) and chronic myocarditis were collected as case group specimens,while the myocardial specimens from normal people and non-infectious heart disease patients were collected as control group.The immunohistochemistry was applied in examining the expression of CAR,nested polymerase chain reaction was used to detect adenovirus (AV) DNA and Coxsackie B virus (CVB) RNA.The differences in terms of CAR expression,AV-DNA,CVB-RNA were compared between two groups.Results A total of 33 and 14 specimens were included in case group and control group,respectively.The CAR immunohistochemical area integration was 0.0118 ± 0.0034 and 0.0039 ± 0.0026 respectively in case and control group,the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05).The positive rate of CVB-RNA was 39.4% in case group and zero in control group.There was significant difference between them (P <0.05).The positive rate of AV-DNA was 12.1% in case group,while AV-DNA was tested negative in control group,the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05).Conclusions There is association between CVB,AV infection and CAR expression with DCM and chronic myocarditis.
