Abstract

In the era of revolution 4.0 where technological advances in all fields, it is a new challenge for parents to educate their children. Gadgets that are currently popular with children, can have an impact on children's development. One of the negative effects of gadgets is that children experience emotional and mental problems. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the use of gadgets and the emotional mentality of preschool children in KB TK Negeri Pembina 1 Malang City. Correlation analytic research design, with a cross-sectional approach with a population of 75 respondents, sampling using purposive sampling of 54 respondents. Statistical test using Spearman's Rank. The research instrument used a questionnaire on the use of gadgets and KMPE. In this study, there were 6 respondents with problematic categories and 2 respondents who doubted their emotional mentality with high use of gadgets. The results of the correlation test obtained a correlation coefficient of 0.387 with a significant p value = 0.004 (<0.05). The conclusion from the results of this study is that the higher the use of gadgets, the greater the mental and emotional problems in preschool children.
