Abstract

The daily ketosteroid excretions from 12 juvenile pigeons were measured during the phase of the breaking of the voice, i.e. from 5 to 12 weeks of age after hatching. The concentrations of the ketosteroids were determined photometrically with the Zimmermann-reaction after extraction of the collected voidings. During the days before the breaking of the voice, the ketosteroid concentrations are elevated. After the breaking of the voice, they sink to a low level.
