Abstract
Taking advantage of the contributions of the juridical philosophers Villey, Cotta and Hervada enables the distinction of the ius intended as the owed suum, object of the virtue of justice, from the juridical norm understood as a rule of right conduct. This article analyzes the notions of ius and norm, proceeding to study the relationship between the norm and the right (ius), with the aim of identifying, primarily, the links of causality. The article concludes with some considerations about the knowledge of the norm with regard to the identification of the ius.
