Abstract

Sixty one patients were diagnosed with anxiety-depressive disorder. According to the Hamilton depression rating scale and Hamilton anxiety rating scale, the scores were 21.83 and 30.0, respectively, which corresponds to the major depressive disorder and severe anxiety. In 43 of 61 patients with anxiety-depressive disorder, we studied a number of neurochemical (activity of monoamine oxidase of platelets and semicarbazide-sensitive amineoxidase of blood serum, level of middle molecules, and the functional characteristics of serum albumin) and hormonal (levels of cortisol, testosterone, and estradiol in serum) indices. Patients had disturbances in all parameters we studied. The contribution of disturbed neurochemical and hormonal systems, as well as endogenous intoxication to pathogenetic mechanisms of anxiety-depressive disorder is discussed.
